How far can I travel on a single battery charge?

Electric vehicles like those in the Volkswagen ID. family will be capable of travelling between 330 and 550 kilometres on a fully charged battery. A vehicle powered by a combustion engine obviously has a much greater range. For instance, a Volkswagen Golf with a diesel engine can easily cover 1,000 kilometres on a full tank.
An e-vehicle with a range of 550 kilometres represents a significant technological leap. In Germany, an average car travels around 14,000 kilometres per year – which is less than 270 kilometres per week.

On a holiday trip across Europe, you can travel hundreds of kilometres before you'll need to recharge the battery. And if you use an e-vehicle mainly for commuting and running errands in the city – and like half of the people in Germany, you only drive around seven kilometres per day by car – the standard-range battery will be all you need. This would require you to recharge the battery about once a month. And even if you drive an average 30 to 40 kilometres per day, you would only need to recharge once a week.
