But this is only possible if the production of batteries and car bodies is completely CO2-neutral and the batteries are charged with electricity from 100% renewable resources. Compared to all other drive systems, battery electric is the fastest and most efficient path to CO2-neutral mobility. But this requires a cross-industry, comprehensive decarbonization concept. Volkswagen is ready to work on this with other industry partners, government officials and environmental protection associations.
